Apple Watch Upgrades for 2025

As part of Apple’s ‘Awe Dropping’ September event, the Apple Watch range underwent a significant update, commencing with the Apple Watch Series 11. The Series 11, with the aluminium case, boasts a new screen that exhibits enhanced scratch resistance, surpassing that of its predecessor, the Series 10. Notably, cellular models now feature a 5G modem, enhancing connectivity capabilities.

Furthermore, Apple has introduced novel watch faces, including a flow face and an exactograph watch face, providing users with diverse visual options. Notably, the Apple Watch Series 11 introduces blood pressure hypertension detection, designed to assist millions of users in identifying potential hypertension, even those unaware of their condition. Additionally, a new sleep score feature has been introduced to monitor sleep quality.

Battery life has been improved, with the Series 11 capable of providing up to 24 hours of continuous use on a single charge. The Series 11 is available in both 42mm and 46mm sizes, with the option of aluminium or titanium cases. The aluminium version offers the choice of GPS or GPS + cellular connectivity. The Series 11 in titanium is available with GPS + cellular connectivity and comes in the colours of Natural titanium, Gold, and Slate.

Following the release of Series 11, Apple introduced an update to its entry-level smartwatch, the Apple Watch SE 3. This update brought about the most significant improvements to date, commencing with the incorporation of the S10 chip. This chip upgrade empowers the SE 3 to utilise gesture controls, such as double-tapping fingers to answer a call.

The SE 3 also incorporates the always-on display, wrist temperature sensing, sleep apnea detection, and on-device Siri, aligning it with the rest of the Apple Watch range. In line with Series 11, the SE 3 features the new 5G modem and Sleep Score feature. Additionally, the retrospective ovulation estimate feature has been introduced for those attempting to conceive.

The SE 3 offers fast charging capabilities and boasts an improved battery life of 18 hours on a single charge. It is available in an aluminium case, with options for 40mm or 44mm sizes, including GPS or GPS+Cellular versions. The SE 3 is available in two colour options: Midnight and Starlight.

Following the announcement of the SE 3, we witnessed the inaugural update to the rugged Apple Watch Ultra in two years, with the unveiling of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Similar to the Series 11, the Ultra 3 incorporates the 5G modem, blood pressure and hypertension detection, and sleep score monitoring capabilities. By reducing the bezels, the Ultra 3 features a novel, larger OLED screen within its existing 49mm titanium case. The Ultra 3 introduces a new waypoint watch face and incorporates satellite connectivity for SMS transmission and location sharing. The battery has been enhanced, providing up to 42 hours of usage on a single charge. The case is now 3D printed from 100% recycled titanium. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is available in titanium at 49mm with GPS and cellular connectivity. The Ultra 3 is offered in two colour options: Natural and Black.

The Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3 and Ultra 3 can be pre-ordered now and will be available on September 19.
