Apple Launches New MacBook Pro 14 inch with Powerful new M5 Chip
Apple has launched its latest version of the base model MacBook Pro 14-inch, now powered by the M5 chip. This significantly improves performance and battery life.
The new MacBook Pro with M5 is an incremental performance upgrade. The M5 chip is up to six times faster than the M1 chip and is designed for AI. It features a 10-core CPU with four performance cores and six efficiency cores, a 10-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. Memory starts at 16GB and can be configured up to 32GB. The SSD drive starts at 512GB and can be configured up to 4TB (an increase from the M4 2TB model).
Battery life is up to 24 hours and faster charging allows for a 50% charge using a 96W charger.
The MacBook Pro with M5 is equipped with a MagSafe 3 charging port, three Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an HDMI port and an SDXC card reader. This makes it ideal for professional users and content creators.
Pricing starts at AUD$2,499 for the 512GB model with 16GB of memory and can be configured up to 4TB with 32GB of memory for AUD$4,899. The Nano-tecture display is available for AUD$230 and the 96W USB-C Power Adapter for AUD$30. The total cost for a fully specced-out model is AUD$5,159.
Available in Silver or Space Black, the MacBook Pro with M5 can be pre-ordered today and will be available on 22 October.
