Xbox Game Pass Gets a Revamp
Microsoft has announced a revamp to its Game Pass subscription service with the launch of the Xbox ROG Ally later this month.
The new Game Pass will consist of four tiers: Essential, Premium and Ultimate. The fourth tier is a PC-only option for PC gamers.
Current subscribers will automatically move to the new tiers. Core subscribers will move to the Essential tier, Standard subscribers to the Premium tier and current Ultimate subscribers will remain on the Ultimate tier.
The Essential tier will provide access to over 50 games playable on Xbox consoles and PC. It will also include access to stream games through Cloud Gaming, including select games already owned, the ability to earn up to 25,000 rewards points per year and online multiplayer. Additional benefits will be available for games such as League of Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone.
The Premium tier will include everything in the Essential tier, with increased access to more than 200 games. New Xbox published games will join the library within 12 months of launch, and shorter wait times for Cloud Gaming will be available. The ability to earn up to 50,000 rewards points per year will also be increased.
The Ultimate tier will include everything in the Premium tier, with access to over 400 games, including day one access to Xbox published games and third-party games. It will also include access to EA Play and Ubisoft+. Fortnite Crew will be available in November. Players will be able to earn up to 100,000 rewards points per year.
The pricing for each tier has also been increased.
Game Pass PC-only will increase from $13.95 AUD to $19.45 AUD
Game Pas Essential will increase from $10.95 AUD to $12.95 AUD
